Gomocup 2015, the 16th tournament (May the 1st-3th, 2015)
The Gomocup 2015 took place on May the 1st-3th. All the games were run on one of following configurations:
- Windows 8.1, x64 Intel Core i7 (Ivy Bridge) 3630QM(2.4/3.4GHz), 8GB RAM.
- Windows 7, x64 Intel Core i7 TODO, 8GB RAM.
- Windows 7, x64 Intel Core i5(Haswell) 4210M(2.6/3.2GHz), 4GB RAM
The piskvork server was set up to the computer in datacentre with public IP and connected to the backhaul network. There was no change in Gomocup Online. It remain the same as in 2014.
Openings for gomocup 2015 were again choosen by Alexander Bogatirev, gomoku player, manager of Team Russia online, member of Gomoku Committee RIF and can be found here. Thanks to Alexander.
What is new?

- SlowRenju 2015 - improvement of searching algorithms and parameters

- Kanec 2015 - not confirmed because of crashing, Kanec09 was used instead

Unfortunatelly Kanec 2015 does not passed the initial testing, because it was crashing too often.
Jarek tried his best to fix it, he fixed some bugs, but still the crash rate was too high.
I hope it will be fixed till the next Gomocup.
There were difficulties like every year, some were technical other were caused by human factor (me).
Freestyle has to be restarted several times. Firstly there were problems with two AIs. HighFive,
which worked fine in 2014 and no it tunred out that it does not work in 2015 on the same computer.
The problem was with some security issue and UAC on Windows 8.1.
It still worked on Windws 7 computer, so all games with HighFive were running on computer with Windows 7.
Another problem was cause by AcePela which was successfully tested on Windows 8.1 and Windows XP SP3,
but on the beggining of tournament appearded, that it crash on some computers, sometime.
So I decided to compile it from sourcode which was provided by author (because od GPL) and it worked on the seconds attempt.
Another restart of freestyle 3 was caused by problem when a freestyle rule was set on server and standard rule was set on clients and it seems that piskvork does not propagate the rule over network (TODO check later).

Ranking and groups before the tournament
Tournament system was similiar to the last one. I set up a rank according to last tournament and the Ai were divided into 3 groups. From every league, the first three were moving up.

Results of Gomocup 1. freestyle gomoku league
Compared to the Gomocup 2014, there were 12 engines in the final group. AcePela, SlowRenju and HighFive advanced to the final.
Yixin was shampion from 2012 and this year new updated version was annouced. But there were a possibility for suprisal, because there were several new AI in first group.
A lot of questions were made about AcePela, a open source branch of Pela made by Farmer Lu as part of his Thesis.
Yixin was excelating from the begging to the end of the tournament and end up with even higher ratio than in 2014 with only 5 lost of 88 matches.
Yixin showed his power and finished like a new Gomocup 2015 winner again.
The winner of Gomocup 2015 is Yixin written by Kai Sun from China, congratulation!!!.
On the 2nd was taken again by RenjuSolver written by Xiang Don Wen and on the third place was taken by Tito written by Andrej Tokarjev in 2011.
Congratulation to Kai Sun (China), the author of Yixin.
In the end the Gomocup results are converted to Elo rankings.
These ranking are not the results of Gomocup 2015, but only another measure how it could be if different algorihtm is used. Standard gomoku tournament is played on board of size 15x15 fields and exactly five stones in row wins. The openings are adjusted compared to the freestyle gomoku.
There was a new AI AcePela supporting standard gomoku, because Pele supported standard gomoku too.
The results were different then last year. The tournament was very tight in 2014, but Yixin was dominating in 2015 and won the standard game. Congratulation to Yixin again!!
The winner of standard group was Yixin by Kai Sun, second was Tito written by Andrej Tokarjev, the third was Hewer written by Tomas Kubes.
The AI in the Fast Game were order according to Gomocup 2014 results, so the strongest AI matched in the end.
The FastGame was dominated by Yixin.
Congratulation to the Yixin and the author Kai Sun from China. The second was Goro and the third was Hewer. It was the same order as in 2014.
