Hello all Gomocup fans!
April 2016 is coming and we would like to inform you about some details. Gomocup 2016 will take place on April 22nd to April 24th 2016. The deadline is on the 15th of April 2016 at 23:59pm UTC.
We strongly recommend to read compatibility details for Gomocup 2016 which have been clarified.
In Gomocup 2016, in addition to freestyle gomoku and standard gomoku, we will introduce renju tournament this year. The tournament manager Piskvork supports the renju rule since version 8.8. The tournament manager will send command “INFO rule 4” to inform the rule is renju. The size of board for renju tournament will be 15. The rule used in the renju tournament will be based on the international rules of renju with the following modifications:
* Similar to the freestyle and standard tournaments, the openings for the renju tournament will be prepared by renju experts, and are not limited to the 26 patterns;
* Players (i.e. the AIs) are not allowed to pass;
* Any game in renju tournament will be automatic draw after 200 moves.
Here we provide 50 balanced renju openings (15×15) to help debug your AIs.
To facilitate participation, one author is allowed to submit different AIs for different rules, although one author is not allowed to submit more than one AI for one rule.
In accordance with the last Gomocup, memory limit is determined to 350MB, time per move/per match will be 5s/120s for fast game, 300s/1000s for final leagues, and 30s/180s for the rest.
This year will be 15 year anniversary of Gomocup and it will be 10 years since I took over the managing of the Gomocup from Vojta Havranek and Jiri Fontan, which was originally host on Charles University in Prague. After such long time I have decided I would like to pass the organization of the tournament to someone younger. So from now Gomocup will be organized by Kai Sun and Tianyi Hao. I believe that the tournament will keep going and evolving and it will be even better and more interesting.

Petr Lastovicka has finished porting Carbon Gomoku and Stahlfaust Gomoku to Gomocup interface. Both AI are hosted on GitHub.
Carbon Gomoku is stable and it can be used in Gomocup tournament.
Despite of Stahlfaust gomoku is ported to Gomocup interface, it still contains bugs in AI algorithm and it is not stable, sometime a crash occurred.
In Gomocup 2015 we have faced compatibility problems of DOS programs not supported by Windows 8. This year Windows 10 appears and all new AI are required to be compatible with Windows 10. Compatibility with Windows XP is not required anymore.
||Gomocup 2016 compatibility rules
I have received and email about two open source Gomoku programs from Dzon Korniszon.
First program is Carbon Gomoku on GitHub. We tried to port it to Gomocup AI and it appears that Carbon Gomoku is quite strong. Petr Lastovicka is working on Carbon Gomoku port for Gomocup.
The second interesting AI is Stahlfaust Gomoku AI player on github. This AI is under GNU General Public License, so it can be ported if someone is interested.

We are proud to announce that piskvork 8.7 has been released. It contains improvements and bug fix:
- Tournament progress on taskbar icon on Windows 7 or later
- Port number is written into log window when network tournament starts
- Window is not scaled and blurred on high DPI monitors
- New AI pbrain-pela
- Merged with changes from AcaPela, these changes has been fixed and optimized (no more crashes caused by AcaPela improvements)
- Compilation has been optimized (Pela is faster)
- rule “five or more stones win / exactly five stones win” in network tournament
